First day in Switzerland and I’m falling in love with it. After a crippling 11 hours journey by the train from Utrecht, I finally arrived at Basel, Switzerland, at 7 o’clock in the morning. I Whatsapp-ed a good Suisse friend of mine, Christine Kneubühler, to let her know that I’m visiting her!
We startred our day with really cheap breakfast (6 CHF) of three breads, a butter and a jam, and a very Swiss müsli, even though it wasn’t the best müsli I’ve ever had, and even Christine thought it was awful. It was a very big breakfast, quite honestly. We then met Christine’s lovely grandma, who was our tour-guide for the rest of the day.

We started to the city of Basel by exploring to the old part of the city, which was incredibly exquisite, very elegant and very european-ish, just like I’ve always wanted to see. We saw the museum buildings, churches, and some really nice old neighborhood. We even saw a building that was build in 1271 (beat that, Shane). The city was an absolute beauty, it is passed by one of the most important river in Europe, connecting France, Germany and the Nederlands, if I’m not mistaken :p.
Anyway, it was really awesome, I couldn’t describe or put all of the pictures in the blog, but one thing I could tell, you must visit Basel, a day is enough to see the gorgeous sides of the city. We were then had some drinks in an incredibly pretty cafe near the main shopping street, and Christine ordered me a very Suisse drink, that I forgot the name.

Not long after we traveled around the city, and after seeing University of Basel, we met up with Christine’s cousins, Natalie and David. Afterwards, we had some lunch in a restaurant by the river, where Christine taught me a Bern-german word, Zwëtschge.
Soon after lunch was over, they took me to Basel’s walk of fame, where I only knew one famous guy from Switzerland, Roger Federer. From there, we walked to this volleyball game in front of the Basel’s historical museum for one game, then afterwards we’re having another drinks at a very unique cafe, which was used to be a cemetery, and funnily, most of the parks there are ex-cemetery. SPOOOOOOKKKKYYYY~~~ ;3
At the end of the day, around 5 o’clock, I had to say goodbye to the two cousins, and Christine’s grandma in front of the station. There, I met Andrea, Christine’s friend, together, we’re off to Thun……!!!!~
